Lamb of God: Hourglass Meaning
Hourglass Lyrics
Blessed with our time in hell
Witness a divine vision, the day we all fell still.
Rapture of the dying age, a shattered hourglass
Wrath of the warring gods and soon this too shall pass.
It's only getting worse, not worth...

"Privileged, a chosen few. Blessed with our time in hell. Witness a divine vision, the day we all fell still." tells about how those few people who survive a war are 'blessed' by their experience, so they are able to witness 'hell' (war, a divine vision) and get hindsight of what they saw and experienced.
"Wrath of the warring gods and soon this too shall pass." probably means a person's believe that this 'hell' is a divine retribution for sin by the god and how he hopes that it will end soon.
"God forbid you read the signs. Watch for meaning between the lines. Your trust has been misplaced, believed the lies told to your face. Became another casualty and now it's too late." Probably a sarcastic message to condemn those who kill others by mistakenly interpret God's verses (that is, 'lines') that more and more people are killed (casualty) by this.
"Gehenna has now arrived, no hindsight for the blind." Meanwhile, 'Gehenna' can probably be interpreted as 'the places for the wicked/cursed', or simply as 'hell'. And those who are doubtful ('blind') get no hindsight of what have happened. -
Read Slaughterhouse Five by: Kurt Vonnegut he writes about a soldier who goes to war in Vietnam and discovers the ability to become unstuck in time ("witness a divine vision, the day we all fell still")also a consistent line in the novel is "So it goes" which is also a lyric in the song so i believe that this song is a combination of a basis off of Slaughterhouse Five and a response to 9/11 and the war in Iraq.
