Leeches Lyrics

Leeches surrounded, conscience is throbbing
They can't sleep at night, hold their pillows tight
Caught in the rivers of the tears that I cried
Bountiful harvest, they flock to my garden
Push their way inside, I go run and hide
They lift all...

This song could also be about toxic people who drain and manipulate others for their own benefit. The lyrics describe the metaphor feeling of being surrounded by leeches, who push their way into the her life, and try to control them. It later questions how much more can these people take before there's nothing left to give, and the "luck of the draw" implies that sometimes we are unfortunately stuck with these toxic individuals in our life.

I honestly interpret the song to be about rape because

At the beginning of the song Melanie starts off with “Leeches surrounded, conscience is throbbing. They can’t sleep, hold their pillows tight. Caught in the river of tears that I cried.

Which I think means, leeches are dirty disgusting men who’s consciences are yelling at them after they raped someone, then “They can’t sleep, caught in the river.” meaning they’re losing sleep because they’re caught in their guilty conscience of what they did.

And then when Melanie says “Bountiful harvest, they flock to my garden.” I think that means that her bountiful harvest is her body at a young age, most likely her body physically developed a lot faster than other girls so the dirty disgusting men flock to her garden, essentially her body.

The next verses, “How much blood can you draw with your claw, from flesh that’s not yours.” meaning, how much of my dignity can you take with your claws from my flesh. “gnaw on my bones. no marrow left to keep you enthralled, i guess that is the luck of the draw.” no marrow standing for her purity, in religious cultures it’s said girls lose their purity or innocence after they have their period because theyre able to conceive which is a womanly thing. Then, “I guess that is the luck of the draw..” meaning, i guess i’m lucky because he won’t touch me anymore, but the I guess is her like will anyone touch me since I’ve lost my innocence?

REMEMBER THIS IS WHAT I INTERPRET AS, i never said that this is what it is about. Music is supposed to be interpreted by people, it’s supposed to give new insight to you and open your mind to certain things.

This song is clearly either about blackmail or record labels, or probably labor. I don't know.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
