I think This is Your Life is probably one of the best songs off of Day and Age. From my perspective, it's about a hooker named Candy/Jackie who's paranoid about the seedy, violent world she lives in. It tells the tragic story of her life while simultaneously telling Jackie not to be attached to her story - that's she more than this character named Candy - and there's something better to look forward to in life. She just has to hold on and believe.
