Twilight is sometimes defined as the time of day when neither Sun or Moon is present. In this case it means not being a child but still not being a grown-up. "In the shadow, boy meets man": adolescence is when a person starts to become an adult. U2 were teenagers when this was made and the whole album reflects many themes associated with adolescence.
