A Perfect Circle: Hollow Meaning
Hollow Lyrics
this sexual being
run him like a blade
to and through the heart,
no conscience
one motive:
cater to the hollow
screaming feed me here
fill me up again
temporarily pacify this hungering
so grow,
libido throw
dominoes of...

the song is about sex and how most people constantly act on our impulsive instincts to have, what amounts to meaningless sex, which does nothing to fill this sexual, animalistic crave that is constantly there inside us (constantly consuming, conquer and devour). Most of us deal with this. I know I do... And it seems that Maynard obviously struggled with this at some point in his life too. I feel Maynard believes that it is only though yourself that you can "throttle all this indiscretion, long enough to edify, and permanently fill this hallow."

This song is about sex, in my opinion. He even uses the words *sexual being*, *labido*, and *hollow*, fill this hollow, the "hollow" he's talking about, come on...it's pretty obvious. Definitely one of their best songs, though. Very good song, overall.

I think this song is about existentialism. Viktor Frankl came up with the idea of the "existential vacuum" stating: "If meaning is what we desire, than meaningless is a hole, an emptiness, in our lives". So, when one is experiencing this sort of an effect they will fill that hole or "hollow" with menial things such as sex, drugs, T.V, and other things that are serving one function; temporarily pacify this hunger that's so cruel.

I think this song is mainly about longing for the unattainable. The album name, Mer de Noms, means "sea of names" and most of them are female names. Rose, Magdalena, Judith, Brena(Maynard's ex-wife). It's about having a sexual desire, hunger, for someone that is uncontrollable. After it is satisfied it soon returns to be filled again.

This Song is about society. How society is materialistic. Materialistic lifestyle doesn't make you a happy person en you always want more. It's all in these two lines:
screaming feed me, fill me up again.
temporarily pacify this hungering.
