Songs about Vampires
Thanks a lot, Twilight! We're now stuck with a subculture that considers pale-skinned human leeches to be sexually attractive, as if we didn't have enough Goths running around already. But it has to be said that the vampire has been one of our cultural archetypes throughout history going back to the earliest printed stories.
There's something about vampires that appeals to people. They're monsters, but they're not shaggy and smelly like werewolves nor putrid and rotten like zombies. They aren't rising from the sea to stomp down Tokyo and they're not aliens from distant planets rampaging over our national landmarks. They're just about the most human of the monster set, and likely as not are classy and sophisticated, too.
