    He is not allowed to fall in love with the girl.
    He has got his own commitments as well as she does.
    He decides to leave her because he is scared of hurting too many people around them.
    He doesn't want to lie to himself anymore - he admits the feeling he has for her. But can't be with her and for the sake of both of them, decides to leave for good.

    The narrator is in love with someone, presumably his best friend. He wants to tell his friend that he is in love, but feels that they are "too close" to be in love and that it might shatter their friendship. He goes "on his way", meaning he decides to break ties with the friend, even though it breaks his heart to do so.

    I don't think it's about beeing friendzoned. I think it's about feeling overwhelmed by his partner.
    "Youn know I'm not one who breakes promisis". He means the promis to love and stay by each other for the rest of their lifes. The promis you always give somehow getting in a relationship.
    "I don't want to hurt you but I need to breath". Of cause leaving the other person means to hurt him or her and the feeling of not beeing able to breath is because he feels trapped. He needs more personal space, that the partner can offer.
    "And after it all you're still my best friend", even after the seperation he knows she ist his best friend, because they have shared that much.
    "But there is something inside that I need to release", yeah he describes that he needs to be more himself and it's not possible if he is in the relationship. I don't know maybe he needs more time for a passion or wants to move somewhere else.
    He is asking what is right and what is wrong, because leaving someone is not very honorable in our society.
    he asks hisself how to tell her and applies at her that she knows they already got different ways they go.

    In the chorus he tells that he is to close to love her, not to close falling in love with her. The problem is that he doesn't feel free enough to be able to love her. And that's what he can't hide, hide behind lies, he told her to make the relationship work.
    Finally he needs to be true to himself and leave her.

    In the following verse it's getting more obvious that it's about a realtionship and not about beeing friendzoned.
    When you're friendzoned you don't feel like "you've given me more than I can return", quite the reverse you feel like you can give the other person more than she wants.
    "Yes there is oh so much that you deserve" means that he wishes her ther very best but he is not able to give it to her.

    I don't think it's a girl or a guy I think it's the two half's inside everybody, the child vs the adult, the lush or playboy vs marriage, the devil vs the angel on your shoulders ohes too close to him self to love him self fully.....
    That or the battle to leave the drug addict character inside.

    It’s simple, he wants to break up with his girlfriend because he’s gay. The lyrics “I can’t lie no more, I can’t hide no more got to be true to myself” is a dead give away. Oh yeah, the fact that the video was shot with just him and no female in there.

    He wants to end the relationship and feels like he is a close friend. He does not want to hurt her.He has to be true to himself and leave...he wants to move on.

    He has been with her for a very long time and loves her deeply, that is the reason he lost his lust for her something to release is his sexuality. its needing to be expressed to someone new, because from the deep love, familiarity has set in.

    I think it's the opposite... he is leaving just because he is too close to fall in love with someone... but their ways are separate.

    i think ' it feels like im just too close to love u' mean that the guy almost fall in love with the girl and he wants to but he wasnt there yet just almost, ' so i'll be on my way ' mean that he is heading there through the process to really fall in love with her/he will be on his way to love her/ to reach that level which is loving her,
    i dont think this song is about a guy want to leave his girl, but for me, its about a girl confess to a guy and already giving her best to make the guy fall in love with her, but the guy not yet love her, so the guy saying that he is too close to love her and he will love her, but not yet, thats y he said 'im just too close to love you, so i'll be on my way'

    I feel like he wants the best for her and as much as it maybe pains him to say it, he knows that he can't give her the best.
    It's almost as if he wants to love her but if he does he can't be himself 'I can't lie no more, I can't hide, got to be true to myself' so he realises that being with her means not being able to be his true self and so he leaves

    That he wants to be with his friend even though there/she's in love with him and he doesnt want a relationship with her so when he tells her no she might not wanna be best friends anymore
