One of my really good friends committed suicide recently (he was bipolar) and this song to me helps me cope in the thought that he hopefully still went to heaven and my "live forever". The song describes my situation quite well. Whether this is the meaning of the song, I doubt, but I believe that this can be interpreted in many different ways. RIP HJD.

obviously it refers to his children. it says one day he'll be gone but he wants his kids and his wife to carry on his legacy.
