Ma-Ma-Ma Belle Lyrics

ot love, if that's what you need
I got three or four babies sittin' on my knee
I got good love waitin' for you
I come sneakin' round the corner of the avenue
You gotta Ma-Ma-Ma Belle, or I will get you

Obviously, this is a song about a madame in New Orleans and the soldier stationed there that wants to make her his before his time is up and he’s shipped off.
“I got three or four babies sittin on my knee” would refer to the thoughts he has about how many children they could have if they were together. And then the sexual fantasies he has about her.
Overall, this is a great tune from 1973 and it’s aging very well.

I always imagined that this song was praising the attributes of a "mammy".
