Elijah Woods: You Meaning

I'm also not an expert on interpreting songs. About what I get out of this lyrics, I think they were bf/gf and the guy cheated on her. He had another girl, not sure if they were serious or not. The gf learned about this and she broke up with him. The another girl didn't know he has a gf and when she learned about it, she broke up with him or she cut her communication or connection with him. The ex-gf was hurt and ended their love relationship at the same time, the other girl also ended her relationship with him. So now he lost both girls because of his being a being not faithful, being dishonest, being unsure of what really his intentions with seeing two girls at the same time.

I'm not an expert on this but this is what I hear: I hear a young man singing to his wife or girlfriend who was struggling with her own identity and sexuality. Somewhere along the way she expressed that she was interested in women. This bothered him but he loved her and agreed to let her have the freedom to explore with a woman outside of their relationship. In time she fell in love with the woman whom she was exploring her sexuality with and left him for her. I'd be interested to hear what other people get out of the lyrics.
