Flogging Molly: Whistles in the Wind Meaning
Whistles in the Wind Lyrics
Sweeping me back, back here to stay
Can winners be losers running on the same track?
Some head for glory, others refresh
Well it breaks my heart to see you this way
The beauty in life, where's it...

Whistles the wind reminds me of the talent my close friend had, but with this talent came a crippling addiction. I remember coming back from deployment and seeing him for the first time in years. He was a shell of the person he once was... the joy, potential and light that once shone so brightly was faded and I just couldn’t believe what became of him. I Pause every time I hear this and think of him..RIP JP

The first person who interpreted the meaning of this song is way wrong. This song is in no way, shape or form about Dave King's mother. The song you're thinking of is "The Son Never Shines".

My husband and I were listening to this song the other day, a favorite to both of us, and we each told the other how we interpreted it. This song makes me think of the amazing friends who struggled with depression and ultimately committed suicide. My husband relates it to his mother, who passed away a few years ago. We both cried at the others' interpretation. I think that's what makes this song so great. It's a heartfelt expression that is relatable in different circumstances. I love it.

I'm not sure what this song was originally intended to be about, but it really resonated with me. I've struggled with eating disorders and this song conveyed a lot of the emotion that I feel towards my disease.

The song was written to help clarify David's feelings about being away from his mother for 8 years and coming home only to find out she could not remember who he was
