Frank Sinatra: Summer Wind Meaning
Summer Wind Lyrics
From across the sea.
It lingered there, to touch your hair
And walk with me.
All summer long, we sang a song
And then we strolled that golden sand
Two sweethearts, and the Summer wind
Like painted kites,...

I think it was just a summer romance. The lyrics say “softer than a piper man” not “a piper man” and “it called to you “ not he called to you.
-
I believe it's about his lover's death.
There's no reference to another lover.. just about a 'Piper Man" calling to her. ??? -
I think honestly this is about life.
When you are young everything "is new under the umbrella sky" but time is marching on - and I think it was his youth he was talking about losing.
In old age the nights go on and on. As a doctor I see that time stretches on for the elderly - but goes all too quick for the young - this is my view!
One of my favourite songs:) -
It is about a young couple in love during a warm summer month. He lost her because she got ill and died.
-
Summer wind is the description of a brief summer romance. The warm wind is a witness of the love and the lost, since the lyric voice tells us she chose the piper man. I imagine this dude as the popular guitar guy in the group.
