This song explains kid America today. TV stations play violence, drugs, and sex; and kids get exposed to it. When your young, your mind is like a sponge, so kids watching this crap on TV absorb it and it gets stuck in their heads. When you hear the beginning of the song, thats supposed to be the television in the background, and the kid crying

This song can be taken somewhat literally.
This current generation of children are becoming, well, desensitized to things. Violence and corruption is everywhere, and children are now becoming exposed to it at a younger age. This makes them somewhat immune to the shock-factor of death and the like because they see variant forms of it on television and in movies. Decades ago, showing anything to violent or suggestive was unheard of, and now it's in children's movies.
This song is merely an interpretation of the effects of violence on the children of today.
