Jerry Reed: East Bound & Down Meaning
East Bound & Down Lyrics
East bound and down
loaded up and truckin'
We're gonna do what
they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go
and a short time to get there
I'm east bound
just watch ol' Bandit run
Keep your foot hard on the pedal
Son never mind...

"and down" is the way you used to sign off on a CB radio to mean Im done talking but Im going to continue to listen-in the 70's. Since the song people now say "bound and down" to now mean the same thing. So east bound and down means: I'm traveling east- Ive stopped transmitting- but Im still listening to the channel.

That is not it at all, in the movie this was made for they had to go east to pick up beer so they were east bound, later in the movie they were going back to the west so the song changed to west bound and down.

In the movie it was made for they were going east to pick up beer, so they were east bound and later in the movie they went back west and the song came back on but the lyrics said west bound and down meaning they were going west.
