Way Down We Go Lyrics
Oh we get what we deserve
And way down we go
Way down we go
Say way down we go
Way down we go
You let your feet run wild
Time has come as we all oh, go down
Yeah but for the fall oh, my

The beauty of music resides in the fact that music is art and can be interpreted in many lights. My interpretation is as follows:
"Oh Father tell me, do we get what we deserve?
Oh we get what we deserve"
- It seems this is a rhetorical question he is asking himself in his head. He is directing this question towards God, but since God is not in his head, he gets his "mind's response". That response is, "we get what we deserve". It seems he may be feeling guilt about something he has done or is about to do (possibly with others).
"And way down we go-o-o-o-o
Way down we go-o-o-o-o
Say way down we go
Way down we go"
- This is his statement letting the audience, including God, know that he has brought someone else along with him down a path that seems to be unrighteous.
"You let your feet run wild
Time has come as we all oh, go down
Yeah but for the fall oh, my
Do you dare to look him right in the eyes?"
- This is him addressing the audience (not including God). He is suggesting that the audience has committed these unrighteous acts for a while now and has been running from their repercussions. However, eventually the repercussions of their actions will catch and they will fall. This is metaphor for their 'morality' in God's POV. Then he asks the audience if they dare confront God when their sins catch up with them and they begin to sink further into more and more moral unrighteousness.
"Cause they will run you down, down til the dark
Yes and they will run you down, down til you fall
And they will run you down, down til you go
Yeah so you can't crawl no more"
- Now it seems, he is letting the audience know that it is best to confront God and face the repercussions of your actions early on and not run from them. He does this by stressing that the immorality will continue to follow behind you, regardless of any effort you make to run from it. Then eventually your own immorality will have ran you so far down that you can no longer escape from the repercussions and at that point, the artist suggests that he believes it is too late to repent.
In my opinion, this is a relatively spot-on assessment of how many people act, when it comes to moral righteousness, regardless of whether or not God was included.

All that I can think of is the movie Logan's Trailer#2.
Seriously, I think that its about your personal demons finally catching up to you and hounding you until you finally die of spiritual exhaustion.

He is beseeching God ``Father tell me, we get what we deserve. Oh we get what we deserve. ``You let your feet run wild``He sees everyone including himself running thru life, doing what they want to do unchecked. Committing sin with no concern for their actions or who they hurt. But he believes there will come a time when those actions will need to be paid for. Weather it be thru having to face those you have hurt or by facing God. ``Time has come as we all oh, go down.`` Falling is both an earthly and spiritual actions. Earthly, by losing all you have worked so hard to gain on the backs of others and thru sins. Then spiritually when you have to face God for your actions. ``Do you dare to look him right in the eyes?" shame follows actions and he says you can run but ``Yes and they will run you down, down til you fall.`` There is not escape. Payment is inevitable and unrelenting.
I think in the song, way down we go is maybe our lifes struggles when we fall down in life like lose someone or a job or maybe your home. At times what may follow you to make circumstances harder is the part when they will run you down down till you fall, it's just another way to take it..

This sound is an indication of the spiritual realm around us. I believe when he’s speaking of looking someone in the eyes he’s talking about the enemy (satan). And he’s being chased down by his demons. The only way up is God. Way down is referencing hell.

Thinking about life and scared that you don't know what is the future holding for you.
My son posted this song on his fb page right before he died. He died of an overdose. I never heard of this group and I wanted to see why this song. After listening to it, it helps me maybe understand what he would have been feeling. He was clean for 2 years. He had a college degree, IT programming. He fought for years. Carried a wall of shame. Loved God, deeply. Knew God was with him. Put himself into a year long christian rehab program in Ft Meyers Fla, St. Matthews house. and I believe that once he faced and admitted his sins, took responsibility for his choices and faced his consequences, knew them, accepted them. He tried hard to live righteously but his wall of shame, and guilt was like an elephant on his back. He wanted and desired to live good and do good, but could never get to where he wanted to be. He went back to the drug and was hiding it. He knew, he was hiding it. But in his mind and soul, he knew where he was with God, He was admitting he couldn't be the person he probably felt he was supposed to be. He could never feel loved. No matter how hard everyone tried, he never believed anyone loved him. His shame was deep. He has a son, he carried so much guilt. He knew that his drug use was going to bring consequences, He probably felt that he let God down and everyone else and I am scared to let myself believe that he ended his life on purpose. Im so broken, His name was Ryan Stump. He had a heart of gold, always helping anyone who needed it. I miss him so much Im broken. I tried to save him so many times. I would give my life for him. This song has so many meanings for me about him. I love you son

This song has a different meaning to me. It talks about death and how we slowly fall and ultimately beneath the ground. First few lines its obvious he's speaking to God. We let our feet run / living wild. But when the time comes / death comes near. Will you look right in the eye of death if its standing next to you :)

It's the story of Andy Duschene in the Shawshank redemption, chased and dragged down by a prison gang and forced to go way down.

For me the 'we' is important. For that's like the whole of society. Us being affected by forces that do not align with ours souls. I think a lot of us are just 'victims' of these forces, though with a lot of insight and energy, you can overcome them. It's just.. not so usual. It's about the things, that distance you from your own soul. Which is a very serious thing... in our society as a whole. It's something we don't talk about, which is why this song, and the Great way it's sung, rings so many bells with so many people - I think :-) The 'good' thing here is, the 'we'. Realizing we are together, realizing what is happening, saying it, seeing it.. can give us comfort, insight and even hope - away from the desperation of isolation. Suddenly - we're together. Our togetherness consoles us. That's the basic thing: Seeing makes us dare open our eyes.. in togetherness
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I think it is about karma, what goes around, comes around. in other words, what we put out there is what comes back to us no matter what it is, the bad as well as the good...apparently the character in this song has a lot bad stuff coming at him...or he is regretting what's to come...

I believe this song is facing what you know is wrong or un healthy for the soul and being able to realize what you need to do in order it over come it .
