Everybody Knows Lyrics
anonymous Oct 22nd, 2014 10:31pm report
This is a cynical song, telling about how almost everything in the world is not as it is meant to be, how people lie and distort the truth, how EVERYMAN tends (or wants) to believe, so they do, but at the same time, the writer knows that they know, because EVERYBODY knows. But that is how life is: in spite of the fact that EvERYBODY knows the truth, EVERYBODY still goes along accepting the lies, trying to be the first one who will actually succeed. But nobody does. Everybody is playing the game; everybody knows it's a game that they will never win; but that's life, the game of life.
Even God (Jesus) knows this truth. But he, too, goes along, because it mustn't break apart. Life must go on. There is a hint toward the end, where he talks about the Sacred Heart and Calvary that "people" may be more able to accept this than Jesus. But that is not going to happen yet.
