Luke Bryan: Drink A Beer Meaning

Song Released: 2013

Drink A Beer Lyrics

When I got the news today
I didn't know what to say.
So I just hung up the phone.

I took a walk to clear my head,
This is where the walking led
Can't believe you're really gone
Don't feel like going home

So I'm gonna set right here

His siblings died. He was sad. He wanted to be alone; he needed to clear his head so he went down and drank some beers.

Two of Luke's siblings have died, so I can infer he is writing about one of his siblings. The song says that when he got the news that his sibling was dead, he was so sad, he couldn't respond, so he just hung up the phone. He went for a walk to get his thoughts straight and sat on the edge of a pier that he and his sibling used to sit on together, and drank a beer.
