   I LOVE this song ( Drink A Beer), reminds me of my late friend from my childhood, Stephanie Roll. We didn’t really drink beer together but we were always close, like family. She is like a sister I never had. Such a touching song. Thank you Luke

   This song reflects how me and Bob "Greene" Roberts lived our lives we played pool and drank beer. Bob passed in 2014 from cancer. He's deeply missed by all who knew him

   Two of Luke's siblings have died, so I can infer he is writing about one of his siblings. The song says that when he got the news that his sibling was dead, he was so sad, he couldn't respond, so he just hung up the phone. He went for a walk to get his thoughts straight and sat on the edge of a pier that he and his sibling used to sit on together, and drank a beer.

   he got the news that his brother or bestfriend died. he was in such shock that he just hung up the phone.. he walked to the edge of the pier him and his (brother or bestfriend) used to go to and drank a beer. probably to ease the pain or just bring back memories.
