Only Hope Lyrics
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again.
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But you sing to me over and over and over again
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray

Actually Switchfoot's Jon Foremen wrote this song. Jon is a Jesus follower and this song is clearly his prayer. He realizes God is his "only hope" and prays that in this world of so many distractions that he won't miss God's beautiful plan and purpose for him in his life. After all who could but God, be qualified to sing "the song of the stars" who created and owns the galaxy. I can really relate to this song in my relationship with Almighty loving, living God!!!

This song is not about trying to find the perfect person. This song has much more hidden inside of its words. Its trying to tell you that their only hope is God and their trying to find him to give her life to him.

The real meaning of this song isn't about finding the one you love most as in a boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse. The meaning is about finding God and how he is our ONLY hope. As John 4:16(KJV) says "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." This song tells us how God is the ONLY way. He is the way, the truth, and the life.
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

The meaning of this song to me: I think this song is about someone who maybe can't find the right person, and then find finds him or her and wants to belong to them forever. I mean, people will try the same things with a person they like and it doesn't work so they have to try different things each time to keep that person. Everyone screws up. Then they try something different... Or they can't try something different but they want to. I love this song. It means so much in my life.
The best thing about this song is that everyone can interpret it differently to fit their life. <3

I think it's about someone whose life is totally wrecked finds his true love and he tries to make peace with his past and move on with the help with that girl... but maybe then reality isn't as easy as it seems: there are things that make them can't be together but he can't tell the girl, only saying that he truly wishes that he could be with her... well in this case Jamie can't tell Landon about her sickness when she's already fallen in love with him and wishes that she could always be with him, right?

I think that this song is about how when you finally find someone and you've finally realized that it's the right person.
The only problem is the person had a fault towards the person she loves and she regrets it. So she's willing to forget the past to take a new journey... with Landon lol

This is a great song! :) I like it. I think the song is told from the point of view of someone whose life is a total wreck, and then someone comes along and changes it for the better. I especially like where Mandy's character Jamie Sullivan sang this song in the film A Walk to Remember.
