Owl City: Hello Seattle Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Hello Seattle Lyrics
In the hills and highlands
I fall asleep in hospital parking lots
And awake in your mouth
Hello Seattle, I am a manteray
Deep beneathe the blue waves
Ill crawl the sandy bottom of Puget Sound
And...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about Seattle, which Adam Young (the songwriter) often imagined and dreamt about.
He grew up in a small town in Minnesota, and had never travelled a lot, haven't even seen the ocean before.
I his blog he writes about his first trip to Seattle.
"I can remember staring out the window and daydreaming about this place during class when I was a freshmen in high school so needless to say, being here for the first time is indeed a bit surreal for me. And from the little I’ve seen of it thus far, I can safely say it’s enchanting."

In an interview with Female First, Young said:
"Hello Seattle is a song about growing up in Minnesota, imagining what the city of Seattle was like without having visited. It's about daydreams and imaginings where you are things that dwell in/around the Emerald City, thus giving the listener a first person view."

I thought before I read the real interpretation now that the song is an expression of love.......but getting the real interpretation now is nice.
-
The song is about him experiencing the great city of Seattle in every possible way. He's dreaming about the experiences he had there (very powerful).
-
I thought it may be a sexual reference, not gonna lie.
-
sangum bhedum; owl cityx2 - tree = hospital
red +blue != lightouse; == hospital
owl city died
sadly -
I think its saying about different stages of life appears in nature..
-
It means he was so excited to go to Seattle because he'd always dreamt of it and now since he's there he wants to experience Seattle at every perspective possible
-
I thought before reading the above that it was a wrong song... i mean 'i awake in your mouth' and 'I will disguise myself as a sleeping pill And descend inside of you' yea it seemed weird but now...i know the truth its about him dreaming about seattle growing up
-
It's about him when he arrived in seattle when he got his record deal.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
Seatless could be the literal city, and it makes him feel secure being there, or it could be a metaphor for somebody who he loves, who makes him feel secure and right where he needs to be.
