Black Sabbath: Snowblind Meaning
No tags, suggest one.
Song Released: 1972
Things that don't come easily
Feeling happy in my vein
Icicles within my brain
Something blowing in my head
Winter's ice, it soon will spread
Down to freeze my very soul
Makes me happy, makes me...

This song is quite obviously about cocaine. If the lyrics weren't enough, "snow" is sometimes used as a slang word for coke. Ozzy speaks about the "coming up" feeling one gets immediately after he has snorted a line of cocaine (Something blowing in my head/winter's ice, it soon will spread.) He also speaks of the fact that a cocaine user, once he has reached the threshold of addiction, cannot be sated by anything else. (The sun no longer sets me free) meaning that he has been overcome by the feeling cocaine gives him, and that normality is no longer enough. Also talked about in this song is the "pushing away" of friends and the denial a user inevitably goes through (Don't you think I know what I'm doing/Don't tell me that it's doing me wrong/You're the one who's really a loser/This is where I feel I belong.) Finally, Ozzy sings about the need and desire for a perpetually coked-out state. And when the coke runs out, the world is boring and filled with depression.
(Crystal world with winter flowers
Turns my day to frozen hours
Lying snowblind in the sun
Will my ice age ever come?)

Ozzie went on a skiing trip with the Devil!?! Of course, where else would the Devil want to go on vacation from Hell then on a skiing trip. Or maybe it's a song about, I don't know COCAINE! Hand Of Doom, Sweetleaf, Snowblind they were all about the drugs Sabbath was doing at the time. Back then it was everywhere, it was the in thing to do. Record company PR men would dump it in their laps. It almost killed Bill Ward. It broke up the band. Deep down I think they knew it was killing them and this was an unconscious cry for help.

This song is about when Ozzie went on a skiing trip with satan, and because Ozzie chose not to do satans' bidding by selling his soul for all eternity, he made Ozzie snowblind, and to this day, Ozzie cannot see snow falling,or on the mountains,or on a TV with crappy reception, and every time anyone mentions the word snow, Ozzie has to leave the room, and get where it is warm.

The song is about shooting cocaine. mainlining. you temporarily go blind for a few seconds as the rush of the drug hits you.
Cocaine is a very, very bad drug because it makes you feel so good while on it but so terrible when you come down. You just want to stay high.
He's singing about how the addiction overtakes him and all he wants to do is run coke.

It's about Cocaine (not speed) and that in the short run it makes him feel good, but in the long run he feels cold.
anonymous Jun 7th 2007 report
It is, yes about cocaine, (or the snow- snowblind) and he gets an addiction, which makes him blind to the world and all he can think about is the cocaine. So that just proves Don't do drugs kids!
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
