Open Your Eyes Lyrics

All this feels strange and untrue
And I won't waste a minute without you
My bones ache, my skin feels cold
And I'm getting so tired and so old

The anger swells in my guts
And I won't feel these slices and cuts
I want so much to open your...

I always picture someone in a coma and the person is sitting by the bedside, pleading for this person to wake up...
"I want so much to open your eyes, cause I need you to look into mine."
It's like this person is saying, "wake up and look into my eyes, so I will know that you will be alright."
The one who is waiting gets angry and frustrated at the possibility of losing someone dear and important...
"Tell me that you'll open your eyes"

    "Please, be ok..."

I think this song is about having splitting up or not been able to have someone or losing someone.

For me, certain words in this song relate to a situation I have been in. I was with someone and I decided to end it as it didn't feel right to be with them as I couldn't give all my time to the relationship as I family issues to look after. It broke my heart to end it but I felt they need to be free from the stress and I walked away from them. Then rumors started that I was seeing someone else and made me look to be a cheater and a lie but I wasn't. Then about a month later he found someone else and he rushed into the relationship to try and forget about me (he has admitted this to me) and he went on to marry her and I stood back and watched it happen even thought id give anything to have him back but as I ended it in the passed I didn't think he would want me. I have found someone else and I am very happy in love with them but what me and the person in question we share something else. This person who he has married is evil she has cut him off from everything in his passed and made him cut up pics of exes etc it makes me angry that she can control him like this and I wish he would just open his eyes!

I agree. It feels like it's about the sudden loss of a loved one and you want them to open their eyes and live again. This song was a single around the time my aunty was hit by a bus and died and I recommended it should be played at her funeral but it might be a bit too loud for that. every time I hear the last 2 minutes or so with the guitar and especially at the end where he repeats "all this feels strange and un-true etc" I get a bit teary

I know this probably isn't right, but I feel like it could be interpreted like this in a English teacher type a way (I'm not an English teacher by the way)
I feel like it's about the world going to crap,

"All this feels strange and untrue, and I won't waste a minute without you.
My bones ache, my skin feels cold, and I'm getting so tired, and so old"

It's like the world is turned against him. Then he makes a reference to cutting himself in anger that "swells in [his] guts"

Then the chorus, "Tell me that you'll open your eyes." x times. This song is obviously second person, being addressed to someone, and I don't see to much romantic quality. There's just one vague line that says, "Take my hand, knot your fingers through mine, and we'll walk through this dark room for the last time"
But this can hardly be considered as romantic, and instead I interpret it as the singer leading the person he's addressing into the light, which makes sense, because the line before that is
"Get up, get out, get away from these liars, 'cause they don't get your sole or your fire." So once again, he's leading someone away from something.
Then comes "Every minute from this minute now, we can do what we like, anywhere." Like an escape from society, being free from social systems and laws and the world which is going to crap."
Then comes a double chorus and an uber amazingly awesome guitar solo, and then a repeat of the first line.
I got this song because I like the solo, and I never really paid any attention to the lyrics until one day I watched Bowling for Columbine, by Michael Moore, and I listened to it right after, and it all made sense to me. The solo at the end really captures the distress and the pain and the sorrow the world is giving off, it was like the song was bleeding and crying at the same time.
