Something Corporate: Wait Meaning
Wait Lyrics
running rampant in me,
chiming in apogee
waiting for the cynergy
of her and me waiting on the light
and i never say goodnight
never say that i'm always right
now in you girl
i'm consent to drown
you're so...
-
All that about the watch may be true but the song is definitely deeper than that.
To me it's much like Punk Rock Princess where he is still trying to get over the last girl and be done with her,
"wait, till I hit the ground harder.
I WISH I COULD WAIT, so I could hear your heartbeak fast. -as in it's killing him that he has to wait, he doesn't want to and really can't so he's falling her anyways.
I WISH I COULD WAIT, till I missed her flavour. He feels bad he can't wait until he is done with the first girl to be falling in love with the new one.
But really he does love her and just needs her to wait. The parts about not wanting to be the last one home means that he doesn't want to wait too much and have both the first girl and the second one gone by the time he gets 'home' as in he has figured it all out. -
I think this song is referring to the time Andrew Mcmahon and his bandmates were out to eat before a concert. He had just realized that he lost his watch and as he was eating his hamburger accidentally swallowed it. Now--for the past couple of days at least--he could hear the clock ticking inside of him and it drove him crazy.
