I think the song is about Stevie & Lindsey and fame getting the best of them and that they let it all get in the way of their relationship. I think they are both very, very sad about this. For a time, it got very nasty and it was impossible for them to work together anymore. It was almost like the break up of Lennon & McCartney. The creativity between them was phenomenal.
