I think Lovesick Fool describes a relationship that ended badly. The girl, in this case, once loved the guy wholeheartedly and they were in love. Then, suddenly, the girl just changed her mind or someone made her change her mind and left him, as "Who put that rock in your chest? Won't you tell me?" states. So, the guy still loves the girl and he is miserable about it, and it seems like things have changed dramatically for him.
