    I think it's about the writers first relationship, a gay relationship in (an English?) high school with a foreign boy. A few close encounters seemed to last forever. But to finally fly apart they had to stop their feelings for each other. There is nothing like that now in the writer's life, only the memory. Now he is concerned with "adult" things like work (maybe making songs), and that whole piece of his life is over/gone. Sad.
