I think this song is about spiritual awakening and realizing that Religion is actually evil because it causes suffering and judgement. When you wake up and break through the brainwashing you realize religion is so sick and twisted and keeps us in fear, but spirituality in its true form, without reward/punishment, heaven/hell, gives you back your power. We are not weak and unworthy.

The song can have many meanings honestly it can relate to everyday life up to emotional trauma but each person will have a different interpretation i took it as having faith in something and watching it slip away or watching as everyone treats you different in the world

Oh and also I thought the paint was to give off an impression of them being naked, vulnerable without said love.

I also interpreted it as a breakup song. Him saying goodbye to a love he once believed in.

Wow now this is something. I've never watched the video so I interpreted it as somebody who is giving up on their love.
Heavens gone - stopping envisioning a picture perfect relationship.
I had to say goodbye - to the love.
Lived and learned from every fable written by your mind - would've, could've should've, the fantasies people have in their mind about their love interest and having a fairytale romance.
And I wonder how to move on from all I had inside - all the confusing feelings love, lust & romance bring.
Place my cards upon the table, with blood I draw the line, I've given all my pride - analysing what has become holding hands up and saying no more, picking up the pride you forgot about when you delved into a tornado of feelings, shattered vision & disaster that 'falling in love' brings.
You were all I had become - when you eat, breathe & sleep someone, when you're drowning in an ocean of them.
So I'm letting go of what I once believed - in the person & their love saving them or whatever bull sh*t people believe these days.
Goodbye agony - Basically, off you f*ck feelings. Get out the soul cleanser and spray it in the face of the parasite that's been effecting you.
I never knew that hope was fatal until I looked it in the eye - when you build something up to be huge and then it falls apart or never even existed to begin with so it destroys you because you expected way too much.
Now I'm not sure I'm able to reach the other side. You've lost all believe & can't return to having faith in the matter of anything to do with love anymore. -

I believe that this song is saying goodbye to all the pain and hate BVB was feeling. I also believe it was their way to tell their fans they were giving up the war paint. I loved the war paint look but I love their new look too. this is my second favorite song by them and I've been listening to them for 3-4 years and they have always been there for me when I've needed them.
They are my heroes. -

I feel as tho based on the music video that the war paint is no more, but that's who they used to be so when andy six woke up it symbolizes that the memory of who black veil brides was will never die in the hearts of their fans and in them.

In my opinion,The song goodbye agony is Andy saying goodbye to the war paint and getting his problems fixed. I have only known black veil brides for a little over a year and that song made me cry the first time I had listened to it. This song helped me with some personal issues that were happening in my life. The first song I have ever listened to from bvb was knives and pens as I got more comfortable with them I started listening to their other songs.
When I listened to black veil brides I cried really hard because I would miss the war paint and the other band members like Ashley, Jinxx and C.C. They just want to discover a new side of them. If you hate how Andy looks now than screw you he is awesome and nobody is going to make him to what he does not want to be. Personally, I love his new style. -

my interpretation of this song is about how they are letting go of who they once were and how they are struggling to accept the new them.

Not exactly an interpretation but more of an observation
During the video Andy wears no or little makeup so I think home waking up wearing lots of very dramatic makeup has an important meaning. What that is could be nearly anything but I think it has a message I would love to ask the band exactly what it is. -

I feel as if it's about someone giving up a toxic agonizing part of their life and contemplating the consequences of doing so. I believe that agony could be a religion, but that might just be my bias talking. It could also be a negative outlook on life or the band's old glam metal look, but I'll focus on religion.
The song references a fable (holy book) that the person based their life on. It became what defined their actions. Now they now understand that it was only causing them strife. They are ready to let it go, but wonder if it'll affect them after they die or if they'll even be able to truly get away from it. Either way, the person is leaving the religion and it's blind followers in order to finally escape the problems religion caused them. -

I think this song talks about how they're saying goodbye to who they used to be. Becasue in the end of the MV you see Andy waking up from the dead in full war paint. They're saying goodbye to who they used to be but still honoring it. But still doing it in a homage way they're paying their respects to it becasue it was who they used to be.It's what got them where they are today so they're letting it go now and they're saying hello to who they are now and who/what BVB became today.

I think this refers to how distant the band was when they were making Wretched and Divine. If you take a look at some interviews and articles, you'll see how they weren't really brothers anymore, and they were all going through really hard times. Jinxx was getting divorced, Jake's mom died and Andy was fighting a blood infection. They were all miserable and now that things are better and they are closer, this song is how they said goodbye to the hard times around WaD.
Also, in the music video, you see at the end how Andy wakes from the dead in his full war paint. I think that was how they were saying goodbye to what they used to be but paying homage to it because that is what made them who they are today. -

I think this song is about how the band has evolved but also that they have let something much to precious go and its causing them pain because they want it back could that thing be the way the band used to be, the thing that has shaped them into who they are today. The change/evolve his causing the band misery maybe. But Andy has said he is proud of this album and it is his favorite one they've ever made. In my opinion I don't think they have changed I think they have simply evolved. But I do feel that something had been causing the band mental pain that they have let go of.
