I'm a Slave 4 U Lyrics
And I need to do what I feel like doing.
So let me go and just listen.
All you people look at me like I'm a little girl.
Well did you ever think it be okay for me to step into this...

She's been a celebrity since she was young. She was a child (under 18) that was kind and trusting that “wanted to make enough to support her family.” She did not write this song and even if pharrel Williams actually wrote this for her, he's a creep. We as a society see celebrity status and life style as a fantasy. It is a fantasy. Mass media, publicity, and using human beings to create the devils work like sexualizing children, gossip, dehumanizing, owning and creating God-Like beings on Earth is not conspiracy. Take religious thoughts like a catholic God out of the picture and see It for what it is. She's a slave for us. Not men.

To me this song is mainly about the differences between embracing your own sexuality and the public’s over-sexualization of her. She was thrown into mega pop star status at such a young age and even when she was under 18, the public, news, and paparazzi sexualized her. I think going off that, her becoming such a recognizable icon that the media obsessed over, you could make an argument that she is hinting at her making music and putting on shows as more of an obligation rather than her own enjoyment/passion. If she did everything right and made good songs, people pressured her to continue doing.
Orrrrr it could just be her being sexual and wanting to get with a guy and be a little kinky about it -
This is so wrong it’s not even funny. You spread fake news and it’s sad that you’re so confident in your crap. “Illuminati” is crap. And I’m so glad that conspiracy is over. I couldn’t wait to come back here years later and tell you to shove it. This is about being a slave to the music bc of her father and now I hope you finally feel like an idiot for also being so disrespectful to her. Have a good day

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

She said the song is about being a slave to the music which is partially accurate because she mentions dance a number of times ("Dancing's what I love, I really wanna dance tonight with you, Dance upon me") but is mostly about how she wants to prove herself to the guy she likes as well as her critics.
Pharrell Williams wrote this song for her and he usually tries to write from her point of view based on what she's feeling at the time. She was about to turn 20 when the song was released so she was clearly feeling rebellious, more grown up and more sexual. -
The whole video is basically set in a very.. dark and run down place
where everyone seems to be a drug addict or a prostitute or both.
'Imma Slave 4 U"
I feel this very statement that she keeps repeating..
conveys how people and media sees her and it makes her feel like a slave.
It may sound like she's accepting this and she's enjoying this (maybe she is)
but one could also see this from another perspective as she does have a history of complaining about how the media treats her.
so it COULD be seen
as a parody-ish complaint of the way she is treated and seen
Also conveys the nature of the business
where singers pretty much have to sing and do what the viewers want
sometimes it isn't even really what they want
therefore.
slave.
