Songs about Losing Innocence
How quickly we rush to rid ourselves of our own innocence, and how much we mourn for it when it's gone. These songs are about making that transition from wide-eyed idealism to seasoned realism. It's a tale as old as the Bible, since the second act of the creation story (in many religions) centers around partaking of the knowledge of good and evil.
There's all kinds of takes on this theme. Some count losing their innocence as a gain in enlightenment and a rite of passage. Others take the view that gaining wisdom for how the world works makes one less happy than they were before.
