A Sky Full Of Stars Lyrics
I'm gonna give you my heart
'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars
'Cause you light up the path
I don't care, go on and tear me apart
I don't care if you do,...

I think this song is about a new love. It shows hope, illusion and fear. Falling in love is a risk. Everything seems so bright and nice like a sky full of stars... But giving the heart to someone means to feel vulnerable and to risk feeling sad and heartbroken if things don't work out as we wished.
Go on and tear me apart... I don't care if you do...
Cause you're a sky full of stars... You light up the path...
Your love gives me a new sense of happiness and love... You make my life better.
I feel weak and we don't know what can happen, but you are still a beautiful sky... Wonderful feelings,
Which are worth the risk... I just want to enjoy and savor love.
You are a treasure...

I think the song is about a person whom loves another with all his heart but the feeling is no longer mutual. She wants to move on with her life but all he can think of is her. The thought of this kills him from the inside but at the same time his love for her is too strong, so it doesn't matter as she will always be his bright spot.

This song was written at the time of Chris and Gweneth's 'conscious uncoupling'; I believe the song is to show Chris's unconditional and undying love towards Gweneth. He describes (maybe his past) feelings towards Gweneth saying that 'you're a sky full of stars', 'I'm going to give you my heart' and 'I wanna die in your arms'.
And even though they both know they need to part ('go on and tear me apart') and move away from each other, he will always 'see her' in a 'sky full of stars'. In other words, no matter how far they move apart, Chris will always be able to find her in the metaphorical sky full of stars.

I my humble opinion...
This is a beautiful song open to multiple interpretations. It motivates me to keep moving forward and become a better person.
Stars= Struggles that actually grow you, Heavenly view= Difficult to achieve yet impossible to give up on,
Tear me apart= Exhausted and beaten down,
I think I see you= Glimpse of Hope.

...these lyrics are about spiritual awakening. The Sky of Stars is a symbol of the infinite and the surrounding lyrics support this...
tearing apart is what the infinite does, it tears us down and give us the lessons we need.
i wanna die in your arms...
i think i saw you...

The meaning is that if you love someone enough you don't care if they hurt you cause you love for them is that great, and you cannot stop thinking about them, even though they don't feel the same, you want to get over them but there is no way that it's happening anytime soon

My very first interpretation of the lyrics was that the singer (Chris as a fictitious character who is singing, rather than him personally) had cheated on his partner and this is a song asking for forgiveness. The reason that meaning really sticks out for me are the lyrics "I don't care, go on and tear me apart..." makes perfect sense to that feeling. Then, with that statement being surrounded by a multitude of lyrics praising his partner, he is wanting to confirm to her that she is absolutely THE person is his life and is beautiful in his eyes, despite his transgressions. Total forgiveness.
However, more personal to my situation, and by huge coincidence, the Anonymous person who posted on Mar 31st, 2015 3:26pm above, hit the exact emotion I just felt recently when my dog died of cancer as well, which was two weeks ago. I was thinking of her and the song came on the radio -- and it just hit my gut.
You don't have to apply every single lyric exactly to your particular situation and, certainly, my dog or any dog wouldn't have reason to "tear me apart" -- but the main lyrics "you're a sky full of stars, I think I see you" is pretty applicable for someone who was very close to their pet who has passed on -- and certainly it could apply to someone who has lost a human loved one. The way the music is arranged and the poignant way Chris sings it lends itself very much to a song that can be used in a memorial type of way.

you're not the only one, although I spoke with said beautiful words about you.
'cause you're a sky full of stars, while I am not.
You're such a heavenly view, I did not.
I don't care!

If you believe as I do that God has created the universe and all that we see and feel, a "Sky full of Stars" is some of his best and most beautiful work; "Magnificent". Whether the love for a person is past or present is not as important as the amount of love you keep in your heart for that person, forever, and with Gods help.

When asked about the meaning of A Sky Full of Stars, Chris explained “A Sky Full of Stars is about when you just say to someone, whatever you do is awesome and I love you no matter what, even if you hit me in the face or steal my sandwich, whatever you do”, adding its essentially about unconditional love.

It is possibly about unconditional love for someone. The stars are always there, like love. However, i always thought, based on some lyrics, that coldplay misses a deceased loved one. " I want to die in your arms" may suggest he wishes it was him. "Cause in a sky full of stars, I think I see you" makes me think of angels looking down from the stars. I realized this when this played on the radio 4 days after my pet died of cancer. I cried because oreo did die in my arms, and i looked at the stars every night wondering if he was in heaven. I thought maybe coldplay was thinking the same thing about a dead friend. But i could be wrong, that is what I interprited.
A Sky Full of Stars
It's about loving someone unconditionally.
Though that person may not be able to love you back and you knew from the start that there's NO tomorrow, NO hope NOTHING at all!,It's just going to wound your heart, you still continue to love that person.
His existence alone can bring out the best of you...It made you believe in love again and conquer the fears you had
