Coldplay - Christmas Lights Meaning

Song Released: 2010
Christmas Lights Lyrics
Tears, we cried a flood
Got all kinds of poison in
Of poison in my blood
I took my feet to Oxford Street
Trying to right a wrong
Just walk away, those windows say
But I can't believe she's gone
When...
-
I can relate to this song when I split from my wife in 2016 at Christmas, I was homeless in London and was drinking very heavily to cope with it. The lyrics describe that exactly and I think it's similar to the actual song :
Christmas night, another fight, tears we cried a flood
Got all kinds of poison in, of poison in my blood
Took my feet to Oxford Street tryna right the wrongs
Just walk away those windows say but I can't believe she's gone
The breakup with my wife happened about a week before Christmas that year, made me cry a lot of tears. I was inconsolable at the time. I drank very heavily, put lots of poison in my blood. I was in London which makes the Oxford Street reference relatable. And I couldn't believe she was gone.
I have come out of it all the other side now and am much happier -
It is about a couple who fought and split apart near Christmas and the guy is regretting ever letting her go and wants her back!
-
its about being alone/fighting with a loved one at chrismas
-
This song is beautiful.
