Daughtry: No Surprise Meaning
Song Released: 2009
No Surprise Lyrics
gone round and round
and now i think that i've got it all down
and as i say it louder
i love how it sounds
Cause I'm not taking the easy way out
Not wrapping this in ribbons
Shouldn't have to give a reason...
-
I feel as though parts of this song have something to do with his time on American Idol and getting voted off. Although it could also be about a relationship. I have never thought of it as more than a song about a relationship, until now, watching back on some of his American idol clips.
The beginning “ I've practiced this for hours, gone round and round. And now I think that I've got it all down. And as I say it louder, I love how it sounds”
This pertaining to how many hours he put into practicing the songs he was performing and as he grows more confident in them, the more he loves how it sounds.
“It came out like a river once I let it out
When I thought that I wouldn't know how
Held onto it forever, just pushing it down
Felt so good to let go of it now”
Once he let go of his fear, and went for it, it just felt natural.
“It's no surprise I won't be here tomorrow
I can't believe that I stayed till today“ This representing being voted off the show. -
I think this is about a break up or a divorce.
