Brain Stew Lyrics

I'm having trouble trying to sleep
I'm counting sheep but running out
As time ticks by
And still I try
No rest for crosstops in my mind

On my own... here we go

My eyes feel like they're gonna bleed
Dried up and bulging out my skull
My...

This song isn't about meth you idiot. It's about being an insomniac (like the name of the album). Not being able to sleep.

Billie himself has said it's about his son keeping him up, yeah sure maybe there's some refrences to speed or meth or whatever but it is mainly about his son.
And to the person that said this:
And when the song came out his son wasnt born yet.
    GOD!
You obviously aren't a Green Day fan and you don't know what you're talking about, I am and I know my stuff.

Um. Yeah spun is a term for being on meth. This song is about meth. If you have ever seen the movie Spun you would know. Sorry Green Day experts. Your kids don't make you "fucked up and spun out in your room."

You guys are dumb this song is about being on Crystal meth.
    Duhhhh!
I mean I'm a user and if any of you are a user then you will tweek when this song comes on too.
Billie Joe Armstrong was a user for the longest time too.
And when the song came out his son wasnt born yet.
    GOD!

Get the interpretations right or don't say anything at all for all of you who have no idea what your talking about./

On multiple occasions the band has stated that is is about the whole baby thing, and about meth. I've always assumed that he fell back into his speed problem when the baby started keeping him from sleeping. There are plenty of references to things that sleep deprivation causes, but you can't ignore terms like "fucked up" "spun out" and blatant references to the drug itself. look it up "crosstops" are speed tablets. Its clearly a song about insomnia, whether brought on by chemicals or brought on by his son.

Billie said in a GuitarWorld interview that it was about taking meth and being up all night because of his child.

This Song is about doing coke, and explaining how he feels why he did it. Meth doesn't make your face numb like he explained.

This song is about when Billie Joe's son was a baby and was up crying all night. Billie Joe couldn't get to sleep because of it.

The dude was strung out on either coke or meth. Its not about his kid, when a person is on meth things start to change(I.E. perceptions) and it also keeps you up for DAYS. you all are retatarded. drugs not kids

Like a lot of other people have already mentioned, this song is about Billie Joe not being able to sleep when his son (who at the time was a little baby) was keeping him up all night. It may seem like it's about drugs, but its not. And yes, Brain Stew (I'm pretty sure) was a nickname of one of their friends.

the song is called brain stew because there were just all these things going thru his brain and that caused him to not be able to sleep. or course his song crying all night didn't help.

A stew has a lot of stuff in it so a brain stew is a lot of thoughts

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
