Korn: Shoots and Ladders Meaning
Song Released: 1995
Shoots and Ladders Lyrics
Pocket full of posies
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down
Ring around the roses
Pocket full of posies
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down
Nursery rhymes are said, verses in my head
Into my childhood they're spoon...
-
This song is about Jonathan basically saying “ It was written because all these little kids sing these nursery rhymes and they don’t know what they originally meant. Everyone is so happy when singing ‘Ring Around the Rosie’ but it is about the Black Plague. All of them have these evil stories behind them.”
-
I believe the song is also illuding to the 1984 murders next to golf and stuff on the river bed
-
its about a man acting in violence because he has turned passive aggressive. I believe Jon Davis grew up kind of neglected and the reference to the nursery ryhmes point out how easy it actually is to teach a kid properly but if you dont give him the right amount of support he will start acting out of rage. The line - Look at the pages that cause all this evil- Points out that Jon Davis is trying to get people to see how much is actually going wrong with the world as he believes no one should grow up the way he did. The scotish believe in playing the bag pipes before a battle so i think the song revolves around a him praying for a better world.
-
In WWI, Pipers (people with bagpipes)would start playing the pipes to tell the Irish when to start their attack. The bagpipes later became a weapon of war. Maybe that's where the "Shoots" in the title comes from.
-
Also how ring around the rosies is about some kind of plague where you have to burn the bodies once the people die to stop spreading
-
This song is about like, nursery rhymes and how they actually have really horrible meanings behind them, EG London Bridge is falling down. The title is a play on words with the children's board game "chutes and ladders."
Bagpipes ftw.
