    It’s about narcissism and/or a narcissistic person. This song speaks to me as if I was singing the song myself. This explains my ex wife perfectly.

    This song is pretty much dealing with people who gossip and talk trash. and how they need to keep their mouths shut and stay out of things. and that they are so quick to judge people.

    Holier than thou is simply what two guys are saying to each other while their fighting to the death. It's hard to tell because Metallica only has one vocalist.
