Demolition Lovers Lyrics

Hand in mine, into your icy blues
And then I'd say to you
We could take to the highway
With this trunk of ammunition too
I'd end my days with you
In a hail of bullets

I'm trying
I'm trying
To let you know just how much you mean to...

Gerard said it himself: "This song is about suicide: don't do it."
To expand the meaning a little, let's analyze the lyrics.
This song can have multiple meanings behind it, depending on someone's point of view.
A teenage couple, killed in a drunk-driving accident ("And I would drive on to the end with you
A liquor store or two keeps the gas tank full"), someone who'd be willing to die for their love ("I'm trying
To let you know how much you mean to me"), Someone who's about to commit suicide because they think they are worth nothing ("Like a bed of roses
There's a dozen reasons in this gun"), etc.
To someone else who hasn't read the lyrics, these lyrics would sound like they encourage suicide.
However, the effect it has on people is different. It SAVES their lives.

To anyone who thinks MCR is a suicide cult: Think again.

MCR SAVED MY LIFE WITH THIS EXACT SONG

You guys are not wrong at all. It's how you interpret it yourself, and what it means to you, not who's right and who's wrong. But if you really want to know...The song is an apology to his girlfriend, after the other songs on the album were about killing his girlfriend. Either way, no one is technically wrong, as long as it is what you are going to stick with. So yeah.

Didn't like my last interpretation? Then I'll elaborate. Basically, I believe it is some kind of suicide pact because of his constant refernces to 'bullets' throughout the song. Despite the fact that he continues to refer to his love for the girl, this is almost overshadowed by his obsession with death imagery. The line 'like scarecrows that fuel this flame' gives me the image of two effigies burning. Obviously, death comes into this in a big way, but also the fire represents a kind of blazing glory, as though death would bring them glory, fuelling the flame so to speak suggests that due to their actions, they will be remembered forever. Also 'As lead rains will pass on through our phantoms' suggests that the two will soon become ghosts. He is either psychic, capable of coming up with beautiful poetry while facing death or planning their death. I tend to think the latter. The music also brings the image os a suicide pact. It rages with a furious crashing as he screeches 'Until the end of..' and then mellows into a gentle rhythm. This appears to be acceptance, the peace that death brings. 'All we are is bullets' suggests that people look back and remember the method of death and not who they were. I believe that the final instrumental piece is the flashback as the two lay dying. 'I mean this forever' is the last thing he says, because to him, his love for her was the most important thing of all.

I don't prescribe to the Bonnie and Clyde theory persay, purely because knowing MCR there would have been a few references to robbing people and shooting them through the head or something. Feel free to correct me on that, but I doubt our Gerard could have resisted writing something like that. Also, I think that, like 'Revenge' the album follows a story. All of them have shown a turbulent relationship ('You can cry all you want to / I don't care how much', 'I dragged her down, I put her out''And I wish you away') but ultimately a loving one ('Stand up fucking tall....take my fucking hand....and never be afraid again' 'Imaginary wedding gown that you can't wear in front of me'). This song is the culmination of that. The only way they can be happy together is in death

hes saying tht the relationship was a mess and they both hurt each other, but they have some sort of undying love .

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

As we all know, the story of Bullets follows two Bonnie and Clyde like gangsters simply named the demolition lovers, or the demolition couple. The song is pretty simple, they are surrounded by the cops, and they are tired of running, so they grab their guns and die together. And in three cheers, the man finds out the girl is still alive and she moved on with her life even without him, but that's another story for another day.

The title of this song alone gives away what it is about. If you look at the cover of three cheers for sweet revenge (I know its a completely different album but nevermind.), then it shows two lovers who look very much like they are in anguish , and the blood stains on their faces prove what they have been through to be with each other. If I'm wrong then don't give me heaps of abuse I'm just trying to get my personal opinion across.

Demolition lovers is a song about two people falling in love, but the love is forbidden, and the people who disagree come after the lovers, so they run away. they get into the mans car and "take to the high way", the people catch up to the lovers, and shoot them. lying in a pool of blood, they kiss for the last time.

i think its written in the future tense becuse the way he says " and then id end my days with you " and " i would .." I think he is saying how far he is prapared to go to prove she's the one . he says " as snow falls on desert sky " witch is refering to the fackt that he loves her but it will never happen . this is a beautifull song with a beautifull story in it . I am devoted and i am only 12 (thirteen soon ! )

This isn't quite an interpretation, but rather jsut a comment related to what the song is saying:
I had a project on Romeo & Juliet where I had to find a song to express the mening of the playwrite, and I chose this song.
I think it was a good choice, because in the beginning, he's talking about how mush he loves whomever he's talking to and how committed to her he is, even to the point that he would die with her if it came down to it. Then in the end, it says, "Like scarecrows that fuel this flame", suggesting that they're in the middle of a quarrel, making it worse, and it also says "There's a dozen reasons in this gun", which could be taken as a reference to suicide as the only way they could be together. All of these things relate to Romeo & Juliet since they were committed to each other in the same way, and ended up killing themselves when their plan to be together went awry.

its about a guy who cheated on his girlfriend, and is trying to explain to her that she means so much, "this time, we'll show them, we'll show them all, how much we mean" that interprets how much he wants to prove he loves her.

My Chemical Romance, Gerard Way wrote this song to thank his friends, Cause It says on the Thnak You's on the "I Brought You, Bullets I Brought You My Love" the back part after you take the Cd out it says "I'd like to Thank My Friends , Excepicaly the ones that I wrote about Killing them. I hope the last song makes up for those" So That proves he wrote it for his friends

I think the song is about two couples who are running away from something. They are both driving down a long endless road, and they run out of gass and start walking. It becomes night time (i heard that night time in the desert is very cold) They get cold and decide to try to warm themselves by drinking liqour. The girl (could be guy, but i think its girl) dies from the cold. The guy then proves his love for her by shooting himeself in the head. and they both lay next to eachother dead, in a pool of blood.

Knowing how Gerard tends to go with the lyrics, using the whole story concept, and his influence from other stories it wouldn't suprise me if there was an intended Bonnie and Clyde refrence.
"We could take to the highway with this trunk of amunition to"

and as for "I'd end my days with you in a hail of bullets" this can be taken to mean a suicide pact, I see it myself as 'whatever happens to you, I'm going to be right beside you'

My absolute favourite line in the song is "I'm trying
To let you know just how much you mean to me
And after all the things we put each other through" he's telling her things like "Id end my days with you in a hail of bullets" to try and tell her just how much she means to him, (which can seem like an impossible task at the best of times) and how whatever they go through, whatever they may do to hurt each other.

"I'll let you know just how much you mean to me, as snow falls on desert sky" no matter how hard it seems he's going to let her know how much she means to him.

and as it goes on the general theme (as I see it) tends to be, 'as we die we'll be right beside each other, holding hands'

thats just how I see it, and no matter how it gets interprated I think it's a beautiful song, and it's my favourite one

Hand in mine, into your icy blues
And then I'd say to you we could take to the highway
(The highway could mean he's talking about death he want to die with her)
With this trunk of ammunition too
I'd end my days with you in a hail of bullets
(hes still talking about the murder)

    I'm trying, I'm trying
To let you know just how much you mean to me
(hes doing this because he wants to prpove to her and others thaht he loves her)
And after all the things we put each other through and
(The last sentence Either mean they had hard times in their relathionship maybe they cheated on each other or they were in an on again off again relathionship)

I would drive on to the end with you
(Hes promising her long lasting love again if they die)
A liquor store or two keeps the gas tank full
(This means they thought they can go on like this but he doesnt)
And I feel like there's nothing left to do.
But prove myself to you and we'll keep it running
(Teir relathionship is dying so the only thing he can do is die so thhey can be toghter no matter what and that can work out).

But this time, I mean it
(This means he promised her this before)

I'll let you know just how much you mean to me
(This means again that he wasnt seriuos before sohe asked her to die before but this time he's seriuos)
As snow falls on desert sky
    Until the end of everything
(this mean tey're gonna be said if they ont do this)

    I'm trying, I'm trying
To let you know how much you mean
(she isn't believeing him at Im trying you here to voice sorta getting angry like how you react when someone isn't believeing you or either she dosnt understand what he's saying you make that voice too he's kinda pissed that she never understands him)

As days fade, and nights grow
    And we go cold

Until the end, until this pool of blood
Until this, I mean this, I mean this
    Until the end of...
(all this means that they'll brake up if they don't die)
    I'm trying, I'm trying
To let you know how much you mean
As days fade, and nights grow
    And we go cold

(hes most propably pointing a gun at her now and he's scared too. "as days... go cold" lal that means that their relathionship is fading and he's saying this during this time)

But this time, we'll show them
We'll show them all how much we mean
As snow falls on desert sky
    Until the end of every...
(here he's saying that if they kill eachtoher they prove that theirs love and he trys to kill her when the music stops suddenly that's when he shoots her)

(he comes to his senses slowly)
All we are, all we are
    Is bullets I mean this
    [x4]
(now he's realizing there wasnt any love between them and now they are nothing but bullets they are going to die without expierancing anything they were just waste of time to anyone, the world they most probably don't have any loved ones)

As lead rains, will pass on through our phantoms
    Forever, forever
Like scarecrows that fuel this flame we're burning
    Forever, and ever
(they mad at each other or they are dying slowly he's obiously regrading this by saying forever )
Know how much I want to show you you're the only one
("see how much I wanted to show you... That I loved you")
Like a bed of roses there's a dozen reasons in this gun
(she asks why he killed her and he sayd there's a lot of reasons why)

And as we're falling down, and in this pool of blood
And as we're touching hands, and as we're falling down
And in this pool of blood, and as we're falling down
I'll see your eyes, and in this pool of blood
I'll meet your eyes, I mean this forever
(This means they arent dead yet the bullet didn't kill them because he's still in the pool of blood he didn't go to heaven or hell w/e)

Most of you all have it. Bullets ends with this song were the guy and the girl die together, getting shot down. He tells her that his love for her is forever and that he truly means it.

Then revenge picks up where that song left off. You know, the guy finds out the girl is dead and he isn't.... I think, and the devil says, "Look. Bring me the souls of a thousand dead corpses and I will return your girlfriend to you."And revenge is the story of how the man is killing people to get his girlfriend back.

Look, this is just how I think it goes. So don't bite my head off if it's wrong.
