Owl City: Beautiful Mystery Meaning
Beautiful Mystery Lyrics
-
This song is about the character Ezekiel "Easy" Rawlins, a black private detective played by Denzel Washington in the movie "Devil In a Blue Dress" and taken from the Easy Rawlins mystery series written by Walter Moses. His adopted daughter is named Feather. Easy Rawlins is a strong, imaginative person whose chronicles start just a bit after WWII, in which he nearly died; they're classics of the mystery genre and portray the life of a non-stereotypical black man who later becomes a single parent, a good man who works hard in a difficult business. The books were groundbreaking and are absolutely fantastic.

This is just my interpretation as a Catholic (I think Adam Young is a Christian too), but I like to think that “beautiful mystery” refers to a girl’s modesty.
I tried to look up other interpretations but everyone else just mentions that he’s in love, not trying to explain what exactly he means by “beautiful mystery.” I mean, I guess it’s possible that he meant it that vaguely... just that love is a beautiful mystery... -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
