Owl City: Embers Meaning
Embers Lyrics
There were nights full of nightmares and I dreaded closing my eyes
There were skies that burst open with a downpour to drown me alive
But the world took a spark like a match in...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about staying strong during tough times even though you are pressured to give up. The embers and fire are a metaphor for determination to get through whatever hardship you face.

#2 top rated interpretation:I think this song is about a new Christian. The first part is someone struggling with the choice to believe, and with life in general, and that spark and the "fire that brought me to life" is Jesus Christ. The second verse is when the excitement and passion of a new Christian begins to cool, but that he will keep fighting the good fight and all. I think this makes sense, since a lot of Adam Young's songs have Christian themes (and because he's a Christian himself). Or, y'know, it could just be talking about a guy getting a new girlfriend or something. Who knows. I guess it's like a Songs of Solomon thing. :P

#3 top rated interpretation:To me this song is about this person who feels like their life feels robotic until they meet this person and feel a connection (and though the embers are new whatever you do just dont let the fire die) the spark is what you felt when you met (and im fanning the flames to climb so high cause theres no other way to stay alive) youre starting to develop feelings for this person and you dont want to let the fire die (fire being the passion/ love).

It means not to let your family an go be put of by the worthless things that will disappear like phone Xbox ect. The embers will burn off but you gotta keep the fire alive.

Even in the darkest night, there is still a light full of hope and dreams.
