1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:Pierce the Veil has talked about this song, and they say when you come to there concert it is like a new home. Lots of people have bad homes, so there like creating a new home for them at there concert. I can't spend another night in this home, referring to how they lives at home. And this is a waistland my only retreat, that music is the only retreat

I have always thought of it as fact that one persons ideal “heaven” is someone else’s idea of hell.
-
Can anyone please explain what is meant by the line “like sugar water in your mouth lukewarm”? I can’t seem to find a reference or explanation anywhere.

i love this song in so many ways. i personally feel like i dont belong anywhere , and when i think i do theres always rejection for me. family problems , friendships , and love life . i havent been successful in any of them
when i first heard this song i didnt pay much attention to it, but when i did , i was sobbing my heart out , i felt like someone finally was able to understand what i was going through. this song saved me ,
when i read what the story behind the song was it said that many people write vic their stories , he said he wanted to make us feel like we have a home by hearing their music. and boy he did it .
thank you for ur time

What if the girl he loves is dead— heaven above u
And without her he's in hell-hell over me
Then there's the reference to falling apart on him so maybe she killed herself? -
I think this song is about a guy who felt like he was never loved and maybe he's confused about his feelings for this girl maybe she hurt him and he feels like she has no right to tell him that she's hurt after all she's done to him. He feels like he's a mistake to the world and he lost the one he loved the most he doesn't know her anymore he's afraid to leave because he got so attached to what they used to me

Vic once said in an interview that this song is about teenagers that doesn't feel like home is a place for them. ''I can not spend another night in this home''

A guy falls in love with a girl who ends up just wanting to be friends. It sounds like they may have been living together and she wants to break up. There's a lot of lyrics talking about the pain from the rejection and feeling alone. He's distraught and feels like he's in a personal hell. Home feels like a 'wasteland', like there's nothing left there for him, but it's his 'only retreat' because he has no where else to go. The 'wasteland' may also be their dying relationship, nothing left in it but he keeps holding on to it.
Looking at it with the perspective given in the intro "May These Noises Startle You in Your Sleep Tonight" the guy comes from a broken home and may have gotten kicked out or ran away. Makes sense for the feelings of rejection and abandonment. He feels like there's nothing left for him at home but he doesn't know where else to go. He then mentions the girl who only added to his anguish.
Hopefully some of this makes sense lol. I think it's written to be comparable to different situations so the people listening to it can relate in different ways to their own situations. Good song :) -
I think the song is about having problems ("With heaven above you, there's hell over me") and finding happiness and peace through music ("this is a wasteland my only retreat") and then finding that happiness through music ("And there for a second i feel fine")
-
i think it has something to do with his own struggles that he went through. "With heaven above you, there is hell over me." saying that you are fine but he is not, that something bad happened. but i think it also means that he want you to feel the bad that happened to you "I've waited all this night to honor you and say" meaning he want you to feel it, to honor your struggles.

well you cant really know what its about because most of their music deals with peoples struggles in life so basically you know whats its about when you listen to the lyrics and will remind of you of either good or bad memories.their music is like therapy bringing back those hurtful memories and just let them all out.

Vic Fuentes made this song for the people who don't fell like they are home and he feels like he can give people more than just concerts in the lyrics where he says (this is a wasteland my only retreat) he is saying that this world is a wasteland and that music is the peoples only retreat. Vic Fuentes does care about his fans he made this song ffor them he got the idea for the song by all the stories people were telling him
