I think you need to watch the music video and read the lyrics for a better interpretation.

In the video: in the beginning we see a man holding a paper with word "purgatory" on it. Then we see Cody at the desert. Desert is referring to a lifetime that is lived empty and meaningless. Later Cody goes towards a black wearing woman and runs away later. I have few ideas here. First, that woman may be referring to death and cody was running away from his death. Second, the woman is referring to the times cody(we) lived meaningless and empty. The second idea is because the one woman becomes 3 later on and that may be referring to yesterday, today and tomorrow but they're black because we're leaving those time meaningless. And cody ran away from those 3 women(days) because he didn't want to face with the fact that his life is meaningless. Then he is seen walking at the desert without a goal and he saw a man who tried (and succeed) to sell him a watch. That man is delusion(?) and made cody believe that he has a long life and the watch was his fake proof which cody threw later on. Then again he was walking without a goal (aimlessly?) and bumped into an invisible wall which is the end of his(our) life. Then he start to punch it in hope that it will crush but instead he harms himself. In other words, he tried to deny that his time came and he will die. He also regrets he didn't live a life with goals, dreams and hardwork and harms himself/his mental and emotional state. Then the man in the beginning comes and gives him a paper which is the ticket to purgatory. But cody isn't happy at all.

    In the lyrics:

"When pretending lends a helping hand we hold it close and never let it go"

We don't do anything useful but pretend like we're doing something. We satisfy ourselves and when we saw it's a lie, an act; we don't want to believe it

"Then the pen writes a story that bend out of our control"

Our time of death is already decided. (The end of the story is already written)

"How did we get so jaded? I don't know. Was it the white lies feeding our egos?"

The lies and acts make us delusional, make us think we're living a meaningful life. But that's all it is: a lie and an act

"I never valued minutes i burnt through"

We don't value the time. We're living but we don't do anything. Totally empty...

"Seconds i wasted, i was fixated"... "Sorry to say i can't fix this. Is this where i give in?"

We waste our time on earth. And we won't be able to turn back time or take the seconds we wasted back. And we give up saying i can't do anything anymore.

"Falling through the hourglass. And i don't think I'll ever make it back"

The clock is ticking and time is passing. We can't go back.

"So i throw stones at walls I'll never climb. Victim to the sands of time."

We start to cuss and attack at things we can do (but won't try to do) in that little time we have. In the and we play the victim.

[Second idea about this line:we add more stones/brick to the wall we can but don't try to climb, making it bigger with every second we waste. In the and we waste all of our times and die]

"Turn the page, look back at what you wrote. Do you still feel the same?"

We might have done some wrong things, committed crime or just lived an empty life. But when we think our past, what we did; we can see that we changed, our ideas changed, our goals and dreams changes. Our mind has changed

"How did it get so scary? I don't know. Was it the hard life's starving our egos?"

Some people don't think their lifes are important or useful because they went through hard times and chose the crime life or that type of life was looking interesting. But sooner or later they realize that their life weren't good at all.

"Cause that's just how it goes"

At the first part of the song it was talking about people who are wasting their time and saying they don't, at the second part it was talking about people who didn't have a choose but doing wrong things or couldn't find a chance to do good things. And these two type of people are all there is, that's how it goes.

LONG STORY SHORT: CLOCK IS TICKING, TIME IS PASSING, THE END IS COMING!
