Fader Lyrics

I'm in transit

Floating stranded on this boat
And I pledge my self allegiance
To a better night sleep at home
And the sweet sweet sun's comin' down hard
The sun's comin' down hard
It burns the bones
So hold a hand for cover
Hold a hand...

The way I see it, Fader is a song about growing up, putting your mistakes from your youth behind you and moving on. The lyrics "I'm in transit, but I'm stranded on this boat" come across as growing up physically but stuck in youth mentally. "The sweet suns coming down, it burns the bones, so hold a hand for cover from harm" symbolises the weight of responsibilty you have once you get older. "Bless the mess, we tried our best, it's all that we can do" is like the person is giving up, but the song continues "whilst the angels walk with the lowly ones in the cold rain to rescue you", which comes across as having everyone around you bail you out and standing up for themselves. The verses last lines; "this fabled worlds coming the down, the walls coming down on all our homes, so hold a hand for cover from harm" is the persons youth coming down and him rising above it and becoming a mature adult. Tie it in with the chorus, which I think is about "talking won't change anything, you have to do things yourself", then I think thats my two cents on interpretation.
