Song Released: 2015
The Hills Lyrics
Your man on the road, he doing promo
You said keep our business on the low-low
I'm just tryna get you out the friend-zone
Cause you look even better than the photos
I can't find your house, send me the info
Driving through the gated...

#1 top rated interpretation:This is a long one, so get comfortable...
The story starts in "Often", where Abel is lonely and quietly sitting in a chair. Eventually two women start walking around him. The lyrics say how he sleeps well alone, and when they come over he can't sleep, because they follow the Devil, reminding him of his fate. Eventually, he starts moving around and following them. These two women are important later.
In "Cant Feel my Face" he strikes a deal with the Devil to become famous and have fans. The devil gives him what he wants, but burns him and follows him wherever he goes. In "Tell your Friends" he confronts the devil, and buries him. He hops in a black car to escape. He isn't paying attention and going too fast, so he gets into a car crash and dies.
In The Hills, you see the car flipped. one of the girls from his room in the dress is shoving him, trying to wake him up. Since he was dead, when he was walking in the music video, he wasn't walking back home, he was going to hell because of the way he treats women in his songs.
At the end you can see a man sitting in a chair holding an apple with two women sitting on the bed behind him, that man is the Devil and he realizes he can't escape his fate. -
2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:Abel (The Weeknd) had a rough upbringing. When he left his home after dropping out of school, he and his friend took their mattresses and threw them in their car and drove away. Abel says that he, "Left one weekend and never came back home".
The hills is about how he's leaving everything he knows and is used to, whether it was good or bad, to find a new life. -
3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:He was in a car accident (He died) notice in the music video how that female in the dress was hitting (pushing) Abel, well she was just trying to wake him up. Since Abel was dead, when he was walking in the music video, he wasn't walking home.. he was going to hell. Why? bc of the way he treats women on his songs. then at the end you can see an old man (he is probably between 60 or 70 yrs old) sitting in a chair holding an apple w two women lying in the bed behind him, well that man is the Devil.
*MIND BLOWN* -

He has got the “ tempo”, and gets plenty of ass, but madly in love with this unavailable woman. To ease the pain he uses drugs, trying to get her out of “ friend” zone... He is a toy boy and expresses his frustration with situation...

It's about him hooking up with some girl that he doesn't love but she loves him but she's in a relashionship already when he sings your man on the road doing promo and u said keep our crap on the lo low meaning keep the affair a secret then he gets high and crashes the car and she starts to see the real him
-
It's clearly a song about drugs..what the hell how did most people miss that?
-
This song was written after his first experience in Beverly Hills (LA). Hence the title "The Hills"
People in Beverly Hills tend to be quite shallow and self-serving, which the lyrics corroborate. He is having some kind of affair with a woman who is already in a relationship throughout the song. -
He wants a girl but doesn't want to get attached.
-
He is just a dick
-
I think he is sleeping with a chic but he is starting to catch feelings but doesnt want to.
At the end of the song its spoken in an ethiopian language "I love you very much.. my love.. my beautiful" -
Dude just looking for side piece. He gets messed up on drugs and/or alcohol and wants some tail. He wants a girl to sleep with him but not catch feelings.
-
