Pieces of April Lyrics
Written by Dave Loggins
April gave us springtime
And the promise of the flowers
And the feeling that we both shared
And the love that we called ours
We knew no time for sadness
That's a road we each had crossed
We were...

I do not read so deeply into the meaning of this love song... it is sufficient to feel the memories it evokes from an innocent time many years ago.

This song is about two women, April and May, Probably Maybelline or Maybel. At any rate he had been having INtercourse with April and is remembering her while he's got IT IN May,feeling as IT did in April not really knowing what it means. He's so confused !
-
A beautiful, thoughtful, lovely and refreshing song with a tear of lament about ''nature'' lovers that also loved each other, looking forward to each spring in April as a ''renewel'' to continue to enjoy life and love with the loved one as a heaven on earth in the coming cycle of life that began to bloom it's flowers again. Eventually with time it became a lost love that dried out, but comes to life in memory of her in April. That had the promises along with the freshness of spring to look forward to love that was eventually lost to his memories of her in ''Pieces of April'' that came to life and gone with April like the Daffodil flowers that gives joy and pleasure to love, but don't last to long that ''symbolically'' mourn the short life and death of the relationship with the loved one, being now in the morning May thinking of her love that was left behind in thought under the oak tree with him. Now to wonder what the future would flower and blossom for him.
