Deadbolt Lyrics

when deadbolts awake you from deja vu dreams,
at four in the morning you know where I'll be.
out running red lights asleep at the wheel.
the sirens feed my nightmares,

I just close my eyes and I'm already here;
its already too late.
I...

    I agree with most of these interpretations but I would like to add some things. I think its him saying that he knows hes a sinner and is struggling with it, like every human being. A battle, in his head, of right & wrong and if he CAN do the right thing. Tempation is so hard to overcome and he knows this and expresses it with such bold words. In the end he has done some (kind of) wrong and regrets it. Wondering if its too late to "save him from the place hes in" (or going possibly, hell?) This is a great song and one of my all time favorites. I hope this gives anyone having a hard time, interpreating the song, a good idea of it.

    I think it is about someone he loves cheating on him and he incorporates his religion into the state of mind he has.

    This is all I've got to say:
    Poison water: sin
    True love: God
    Chick that's telling the guy to drink the "sweet" water: temptation.

    I think that this has a lot to do with his drug of choice, his "poison" He knows it's poison, because he's been there before, but he just says, "Come on and give me my poison." That's my opinion.

    This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

    Proverb 9; someone named Folly called from the highest point in the city:
    "Stolen water is sweet;
    food eaten in secret is delicious!" (9.17)

    9.18: But little do they know that the dead are there,
    that her guests are in the depths of the grave.

    I think drinking the stolen water is analogical of sinning in general or possibly of cheating, because he references his true love... I don't know-- 'tis but a hunch.

    "We all are those / Who thought we were brave" has to mean something, but I know not what.
