To me she is his closest friend and she left when things changed and got difficult during a long and loving relationship. She just watched and caused some of the suffering. He can't believe the love of his life would just stand and watch him bleed. He thought their relationship meant everything. But it didn't. Now she has moved on and he still waits for love to come again for him. I am the waiting one it seems.

I personally see this song as a feeling bouncer. Meaning, it's coming from someone who is the push over of the relationship. They wait, wait, and wait for things to change but they never seem to. They're the one waiting at home, going through hell, and trying to hold on while the other was is keeping them waiting. All in all, it's showing how the one who puts in all the effort feels.

I think it could mean one/two things. A guy or girl that has been fucked over in a relationship by their lover, "Betrayed by my closest friend" could mean the other person in the relationship, or it could be the persons best friend cheating with their lover.
