Car Wheels On A Gravel Road Lyrics

Sittin' in the kitcken, a house in macon
loretta's singing on the radio

Seems like the story of a child who was being confused sexually in the car wheels on the gravel road her signal that’s how she talks about it. Strangers came to the house one day and took her and took her far away and she could hear their conversations in the front seat And hear all their creepy secrets. They take her to creepy places whenever she hears car wheels on a gravel road she’s uncomfortable. Car wheels on a gravel road is how she talks about it. She never tells you what happens, but she knows what’s gonna happen when she hears car wheels on a gravel road. The smell of bacon and coffee represents stability and safety as she was removed from that by a stranger she’s traumatized and then now she’s running ever since and she’s the car wheels on the gravel road. That’s just what I get out of it.

Its about all the images in the mind of a small child remembered years later after being taken from her family to live with relatives. Probably because of a crazy damaged or abusive parent probably a mother. beautifully written . beautiful melody. great guitars.
