Well Sometimes I Go Out, By Myself, And I Look Across The Water.

And I Think Of All The Things, Of What You're Doing, And in my head I Paint A Picture.

Since I've Come Home, Well My Body's Been A Mess, And I Miss Your ginger Hair, And The...

I think it's her alter ego. She's talking to herself when she turns into a junkie vs how she is when she's sober.

The song was written by the Zutons. The song's title and theme refer to an American friend of the lead singer who was in trouble for driving under the influence. The band's drummer, Sean Payne, called it a "musical postcard to her, saying he's having a hard time and can she come over and see him.

Soooooo, she wasn't the original writer or the first to record this song. SO pretty much none of these statements work!

if this song is by amy, her boyfriend went to jail, and she spiraled, i think valerie is her alter ego also because she got sober a few times and the struggle was insane, her through the fame documentary is on netflix and a lot of the lyrics make sense now.

I think the song is about two girls , one who is gay and one who is on the fence ! It says it all in " why don't you come on over , stop makeing a fool out of me " ! I'm thinking it might have been a one night stand ? Now she wants to hook back up ?

I interpreted this as a person who is calling an old friend who she hasn't seen in a long while. Much time has passed and many things have changed. She occaisionly thinks of her old friend and wonders what she's up to.The line in her song, "since I've come home my bodys been a mess"I think, refers that she doesn't look the same as she once did.She calls her friend, and wants to know whats been happening in her life, been in trouble?, changed your hair color?, your job, kids, life keeping you busy? What does she shop for nowadays. Are you still as ditzy as you once were, ect ect. She wants to reconnect with an old friend.

I think she is mentioning her mom. Jail does not mean being locked up but the feeling her mom had in a situation in her life. I am just taking a wild guess.

I think the song Valerie represents when a person is distant from their loved ones. It makes the heart grow fonder, what I admire about the lyrics is that the very description of images painted from Amy's thoughts and perhaps even her experiences is expressed through this song.

Though there are many meanings and definitions for 'Valerie' I admire her acapella version because it brings out the best in her voice, I to sing it every now and then.

Thank you Amy Winehouse for sharing your talents with the rest of us, you will always be remembered through your songs.

This song is about a girl named valerie that amy winehouse misses and she wants to get back with. When I hear this song I think of a broken love story and two broken hearts.

I believe the song is about missing an ex deeply and wondering how they are doing. Like how it names things about wondering if she went to jail or simply changed her hair color.

I always think this is about a hooker, not an escort, but a legit hooker who got caught and won't see her clients anymore.
