Augustana: Boston Meaning
Boston Lyrics
In the light of the sun, is there anyone? Oh it has begun...
Oh dear you look so lost, eyes are red and tears are shed,
This world you must've crossed... she said...
You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah,
She said
You...

This song reminds me of this girl I used to know named Celeste who went through some rough things in her life and partly because of this her and her family moved to Boston England. I haven’t talked to her or seen her since and it’s been 10 years.

The song is about finding yourself. Becoming a new person in a new place; possibly after having had to live through a devastating experience. Maybe this person has been wronged many times before, maybe life has been unfair time and time again and she has finally reached her breaking point and so she wants to leave her old life behind and start anew.

Boston is a metaphor of someone's life surrounded by loneliness and isolation. It might as well refer to "moving on" or "getting over" something, maybe a tragedy or a loss of a love one. The lyrics shows the need or desire to have a fresh start but seemed quite confuse and lost.
-
This song is actually about a friend of the Augustana guys who wanted to leave California to see what's in store for them in the world.
