Strawberry Fields Forever Lyrics

Let me take you down, ’cause I’m going to (too.)
Strawberry fields
Nothing is real, and
Nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry fields forever.

Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see.
It’s getting hard to be someone...

It's really hard to explain to you all what all of this means. The Beatles are trying to teach you things through there music that you really have to look for, they put all there energies into the music they make. "nothing is real" this is true. nothing is real it is just created through your ego, nothing is real you make what you want you hear what you want to hear. "living is easy with eyes closed" life is a dream, everything is a dream nothing is real. once you realize this you may further learn other things the beatles are trying to teach us. "Misunderstanding all you see" like I said everything is a dream and most people don't understand this like the beatles did they had everything figured out. Through acid/mushrooms and marijuana this helps them be closer to god helping them understand more. almost all of there songs have references to these things and they are all true. The beatles are just trying to teach us through their words and energies

Strawberry field is a description of what one discover upon taking LSD. one has had his conscious mind altered so that only a portion of the mind is able to experience the conscious world and another portion of the conscious mind is forever trapped with the subconscious. Trapped in strawberry fields forever. only surfacing during the next LSD trip. Unless you know how to play "head games".But that another song. This is why Harrison's guitar gently weeps. So we smoke weed just to get a glimpse of the the world gave up when first did drugs .

Strawberry Fields has a cemetery. The song is about being dead. The artist is confronting his own death is his own little weird way. The lesson is death isn't worth worrying about. Everyone dies.

i agree with most of you on this one.
i think its about John and how hes feeling
but i also do believe they were under the influence of some type of drug, most likely lsd. there are just so many hints to it

Maybe you are right. But maybe the war was an internal war. Maybe John was battling with the inner conflicts of right/wrong, good/bad, and the meaning of life. Maybe this song was written reflecting his own personal/spiritual human development. As an outcome of this internal war, he finally developed to a place where he could write "Imagine". I believe that most songwriters and poets are expressing their internal world and not the outer, although their is a huge interplay between the two. Just look at the recent development of our country. Maybe it is a reflection of the inner development of the individuals that make up our American Psyche. Maybe.

    Well,
I talked about this song in my english class. (I am in an advanced class so do not infer that I am an idiot.)
My teacher had commented that she didn't like the fact that people listen to the beatles without knowing the meaning or backround of their songs.
Have you ever seen ACROSS THE UNIVERSE? Remember the Strawberry Fields Forever scene? Jude pins up the strawberrys and the juice from the strawberrys drip down one by one.
MY OPINION: Basically, in once again, MY OPINION, This song represents war. Think about it "Let me take you down 'cause i'm going to, strawberry fields, nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about, strawberry fields forever." Was he going to war? I'd have to check that. Nothing is real? THAT IS HIS OPINION! Weren't they against war? So wouldn't they think that the reasons the wars are going on aren't real?! And nothing to get hung about, strawberry fields forever: Obviously, war isnt something to get excited about and he's sayingit will go on forever.

Just listen to the song again and think of war

    There'll be connections

I thought that Strawberries Forever was what he called the view outside his New York apartment. Wasn't it renamed that after his death?

Living is easy with eyes closed (people will try to ignore things theyd rather not see)
Misunderstanding all you see (and therefor don't believe the evidence)

It's getting hard to be someone (of the power of the opposition)
    but it all works out

It doesn't matter much to me (I say we carry on anyway)

No one I think is in my tree (yet nobody sees things the way I do)
I mean it must be high or low (maybe I see a lot or not)

That is you know you can't tune it (u can't make people see what they don't want to see )
    but It's all right

That is I think it's not too bad

Always no sometimes think it's me (sometimes I think I must be crazy to see what I see)
But you know I know when it's a dream (but you know I'm not insane)

I think a "No" will mean a "Yes" (everything seems a lie)
but it's all wrong (and criminal)

that is I think I disagree (but you've got to be careful)
strawberry fields forever (I long for happier times)

Ok most of you are right... Strawberry fields it's not a park it's an orphan house in Liverpool, but it's also about cocaine... cause you see the strawberry fields resemble to cocaine lines, and if you really check the lyrics

"Always no sometimes think it's me, but you know I know when it's a dream.
I think, er No, I mean, er Yes but it's all wrong.
That is I think I disagree."

If you've been near people on coke or tried it... you know it will get you all hype up and can't make your mind about nothing... pay attention to the lyrics and you'll realize it's about the orphan house and how he talks about it while on coke...

well that's just how I see it

Well, I saw parts of the movie 'Across The Universe', the Beatles-inspired movie.. and after seeing it I think this song is about war. The "strawberry fields" represent bombs and blood. "Strawberry fields forever" meaning that war never stops and nothing seems real because everyone is dying. I'm not sure, correct me if I'm wrong please
