Billy Joel: This is the Time Meaning
Song Released: 1986
This is the Time Lyrics
They're tearing it down now
But it's just as well
I haven't shown you everything a man can do
So stay with me baby
I've got plans for you
This is the time to remember
Cause it will not last...

anonymous Dec 5th 2007 report
I think it's about some guy who finally decided to get out of his house and the very first thing he does is go to his local donut shop.
This song is about a couple at a crux in their relationship. They're been lovers, but have not yet committed to each other fully - neither have allowed themselves to be vulnerable. The protagonist wants to move forward with the relationship, but doesn't want to rush it. However, he senses that the current state of the relationship is a dead end, and not going to the next step will result in the end of the affair.
