Blue Oyster Cult: Mirrors Meaning

This is about the vanity so prevalent in our society and fixation with beauty, youth and the desire for acceptance. Especially appropriate for the social media era, just substitute "selfie" for "mirror" and the song is suddenly relevant again. Insightful lines such as "They conceal what you'd like it to be" and "Mirrors [Selfies]are the basis of beauty/ Give rise to self love or self pity" are so right on today with Facebook and others facing accusations of the negative impact of their products. "The prize if a woman is pretty/She tries like a superstar Hollywood girl." Simple but so on point.
